Difference Between 2D, 3D and 4D Massage Chairs

2D, 3D, and 4D are referring to the number of planes the rollers are capable of traveling. The D stands for dimension( or planes) the rollers can travel in.

The creation of the 3D massage chair in 2001 has created one of the biggest advancements in the massage chair market. 3D  massage chairs are the current industry standard, even in today's times. Throughout the years with major advancements in technology in the year 2012, the 4D massage chair was born. Although it has not become the standard just yet it is leading in popularity. Why?


Let's take a more in-depth look at each roller type, 

2D
The 2D chair has been the industry standard for decades up until 2001 when the 3D massage chair was created. It is capable of going in two dimensions X and Y. Massage chairs with this capability are unable to adjust the intensity, depth or speed which is why it is generally the less popular version to buy depending on the persons needs. 

3D
The creation of the Z plane in the 3D models allows you to adjust the depth of your massage. The 3D model is now the base model used in basically all massage chairs in the industry. The reason for this specific type being the newfound standard is because of its ability to reach depths of 2 to 5 inches. Allowing the rollers to push into the muscles you have the most tension and pain in. Providing you with a deeper more human-like massage than ever capable of before.

4D
The 4D model is the newest addition to the family and the most advanced thus far. The 4D has essentially the same advanced features as the 3D model. The biggest difference between them is that you can control the speed and have more strength options for the rollers. For example, if you choose the shiatsu or kneading mode built into your massage chair, you can increase or decrease the speed of the rollers in that mode allowing you to have substantially more control over the rollers making the overall massage significantly more enjoyable for any user.
